France has used trained dogs in the military since World War 1. Dogs served then and they have been serving ever since.
France initiated a memorial to hero dogs, both civilian and military. It features a sculpture of a dog and a World War 1 soldier huddled together.
The monument is located at Suippes a place the saw many battles and in now home of a large dog training center. The monument was initiated by the French Kennel Club. Military dogs attended wearing their medals. Dogs have been serving the military for many years. It is time they received recognition.

It is important that we acknowledge how much dogs have served us over the years. I am sure dogs saved many lives during the wars they have served in. Sadly, sometimes they gave their lives in service. We should never forget the dogs who have served us. There should be memorials everywhere that dogs have served and events honoring the hero dogs.
