The Japanese Giant Salamander is rarely seen and there are few of them left. Human fragmentation of habitats is a major problem. Salamanders need certain conditions and locations for their eggs. Unless humans intervene to fix problems we have created, the salamanders will die out.

Giant Salamander DNA is 23 millions years old. They have changed little since their beginning. Individuals could live up to 100 years old.
We could wipe them out in a handful of years be our thoughtless actions.  Or we could save them with some serious conservation efforts.
I hope we make the right choice.
