Vaquitas are a small porpoise that lives in a limited area. There may be as few as 8 left in the gulf of California. The Mexican government has not done enough to protect them from fishermen and they have not done enough to help the fishermen.
Even if the Mexican government protects them now, it may be too late.
Because of this, the Mexican government faces sanctions on exporting certain goods.

The sanctions may be a good idea and they may send a message to other countries, but it is too little too late.
There may not be enough Vaquitas for the species to survive.
