The baby watch is over at Calgary Zoo. Fifteen year old Yewande has just given birth to her first baby. Mother and baby are doing well. Their building has been closed so the whole troop can bond together as a family.

Gorillas are very social animals and it is important that they form bonds with each other. I am glad they have closed the whole building. It will give mom time to settle in. It will give the new baby some gorilla only time before humans become part of his or her life.
