As flames raced across Maui, destroying everything, the staff of the Maui Bird Conservation Center fought to protect their birds from danger. The center is home to some rare and endangered species. Some are the last of their species.Â
The staff were heroic and they were successful.

Looking at the video, they are fighting a devastating wildfire with a garden hose. It took courage and dedication and they did it, they saved the birds and the Conservation Center that houses them.
The Island suffered some terrible losses, but at least the birds were spared.
