He was known as P-22 and he was trapped in a small territory by the LA Freeway. All he had was 8 square miles when he needed 150 square miles.
He captured the hearts of people in the area. People organized fundraising and stars were generous. Money was raised to build an overpass so animals could safely cross the freeway. Not only will there be a large overpass, it will be planted to create a natural area for smaller animals like butterflies to feed.
Sadly P-22 died in Dec 2022, just before they started construction.

P-22 did not live in vain if he was able to inspire a large over pass, and a naturalized one. When we have the will to act we can do the right thing. P-22 inspired people to do the the right thing. I like to think that his spirit will be there to cross the overpass when it first opens. He should be the first one to cross.
