The Irwin family has kept Steve's work going through the Australia Zoo. They have all done a lot.
In 1990 Steve discovered a new species of fresh water turtle that is now known as Irwin's Turtle.
Now Robert Irwin has successfully hatched out a baby turtle, the first one hatched by a zoo anywhere.
His father would be proud of the work he has done.

We still miss Steve. It is hard to believe that he died in 2006.
His family really has kept his work alive.
Robert looks so much like his father. He even seems to have his gather's personality.
The work he is doing on conservation takes his father's work and goes further with it.
Irwin's Turtle is rare. Working to understand them and increase their numbers is so important.
We have lost Steve, we don't want to lose his turtle.
