Police in China rescued a thousand cats that were on a truck heading for slaughter. It is now illegal to sell cat meat, so they would have been sold as pork.
The cats were delivered to a local shelter.
Animal rights activists alerted the police about the cats. They had been watching the truck for a week.

This is a big victory. One thousand cats rescued! Also the cat meat dealers took a financial loss.
Every time they can stop the cat meat trade from making money they are a step closer to stopping the trade.

For a thousand the cats the world is suddenly a better place.
Excellent news, indeed. But how come cat meat is illegal but dog meat is still legal in most places in China? There only a couple of local bans so far.

There is no logic to the bans. We just have to be happy that cat meat is banned and keep pushing to have dog meat banned.
