Giant Pangolins were thought to be extinct. There had not been a sighting in many years. Then in 2018 they were rediscovered. Since then there have been conservation efforts by the Pangolin Project. They are helping farmers to make space for pangolins. One danger is electric fences that protect fields from animals like elephants. Removing the lower strand of wire is removing some of the danger for pangolins. There are only 30-80 pangolins left in the area so conservation efforts are necessary.

It is always exciting when an extinct animal is found to be still alive. We are getting a second chance with the Giant pangolins.
I just hope we are up to the challenge of saving them this time.
