Researchers have been studying apes, in particular, Bonobos, our closest relative in the animal world. They found that they recognized pictures of apes they had known, even after a period of separation lasting years.

The ability to recognize an individual from a photograph is remarkable. Remembering the other ape after a number of years is also remarkable.
They show a level of intelligence  beyond what we have given them credit for. The more we study apes or even other species, the more we discover how intelligent they really are. I wonder what they will study next about the Bonobos.
