A young lion cub caught the attention of a forest guard in Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, India.
The forest guard, Rana Mori, went to check on it, as a cub without its mother was an unusual sight.
The cub then led Rana away, looking back every so often to be sure he was still following, and led the forest guard to the dead body of its mother. After a post mortem it was discovered she had sustained fatal injuries due to an encounter with Water Buffalo.

The poor baby. He must have thought they could help her. How clever of him to get help like that. I hope he does okay and finds a family.

What incredible love to have stayed with his mother and tried to get her help. It is sad that she was killed like that, but she must have been hunting so she could feed her cub.
