Researchers observing chimps playing. In particular chimpanzee mothers play with their children. Baby chimps play. When food is abundant all chimps play.
Even when food is scarce and times are hard, mother chimps still spend time playing with their children.
Play is clearly important to the well being and development of young chimps.

It is interesting to know that chimps of all ages play when they can. Moms play no matter what. Play is important. Chimps know that.
Animals like cats and dogs know play is important. I just wonder if humans understand how important play is.
