I just wanted to share what I encountered at my local Pet Value store.
They packaged up five dollar pet food packs. When I bought my pet food, I bought one of their food packs and put it in the food bank bin. For my generosity, they gave me a five dollar coupon on my next purchase.
It is a great idea. They collect the food for one of our local animal charities. When you are buying a whole lot of food, what's five dollars more. When enough customers do it they collect a lot of food for animals in need.

So are there any other places that have pet food banks?
At my grocery store they collect pet food for shelters. its the really cheep store brand and i don't know how much it is. I've never gotten it before though. However at one of my pet stores they ask if your willing to buy cans of food for the shelter. Which I usually offer to give $5 worth of cans. Which is usually around 8 or so cans. some times its cats some times it dogs, for dogs it usually doesn't buy as many cans. it always makes me feel good Smile
I am glad to hear that other stores are doing this. It would be sad for a person to be in trouble financially and not be able to feed their pets.
If we all give just a little I am sure it will be enough. Anyhow if you are like me, we buy a lot of pet food. Another $5.00 isn't even noticeable in my pet budget. Smile
It seems that other groups are helping pets in need. This one is linked to a meals on wheels group.

I think it is a hopeful sign that people are caring enough to think of animals in need.Smile
