Cincinnati Zoo has done great things with its Gorilla program. In the last two years the keepers have raised Gladys and turned her over to a surrogate gorilla mom.
Now they are going to do it again with Kamina. She is so cute. They are going to raise her as a gorilla so that she fits in with her own species. That means the keepers will dress and act like gorillas and stay with her at all times until she is able to live with a gorilla mom. She has to be able to hold a bottle of milk and eat since the adoptive gorilla mom will not have milk.
First they had to bring her back to Cincinnati.
The Silverback(the male) in Cincinnati is our Jomo from Toronto. He grew up to be a fine looking fellow. He is adoptive father to Gladys and he has a newborn and now he will have Kamina.
I think I may need to take a trip down to Cincinnati to see how he is doing.
