All our technology is "smart" these days. My smart phone knows what I looked up on the computer the night before. I think it talks to my computer.
The technology is there. Now they are applying it to pet collars so people can keep track of their pets. The temperature sensor alone would be worth it.

It certainly would give peace of mind if you could check your pet through his collar. Not quite as good as being there in person, but safer for the pet than being left alone.
