I Heart it!
Illuminated kitties, just waiting to pounce on all those Christmas Tree decorations, and use the tree as a scratching-post! lol!
When I was a little girl, one of our cats ran up the Christmas Tree, and pulled the whole lot down....tinsel....lights...everything! It was so funny at the time (cat unhurt) but meant we had to start all over again decorating the tree.Smiley4

(P.S. I managed to get back on here. The page loaded fine tonight. I have no idea why some web pages weren't loading for me, and videos hard to watch, lately. It seems better tonight.)
I am glad you can get back on the site. I don't know why we all have weird glitches, but that seems to be normal for the internet. Huh

You have to love animals and Christmas trees. The cat that brought our tree down was not even ours. He belonged to a neighbour and just came in to mooch a snack and get warm. Smiley4

A few years ago my bearded dragon Jonathan(she was young then) used to run around the Christmas tree and climb all over the presents.
When I took the decorations off I found a small lizard that I did not know was out of her tank.
This year it is my visiting bunny who wants to wreck havoc. I am keeping him away from the tree, but he is eyeing it.Smiley4
excellent post Catherine!
The "thumbpress.com" link: The first one is my favorite!! The one with kitty sleeping in the Santa hat is just too precious, and the one with kitty haing some hot cocoa is too funny!

The "parade.com" link: Some beautiful photography!!
There are some incredible pictures out there and it is wonderful that people want to share them.
I don't want to admit how much time I spend looking at cute animal pictures.Smiley43
What did we do before we had the internet?
I know I deinitely got more sleep!
Phew, I'm happy to see you've been here today Catherine. I was wondering if you still had electricity. Safe to assume you do, or at least did as of your last post here.
I was lucky. I never lost power, but I stayed up most of the night just in case. No electricity=no heat and my animals need steady heat.

My next door neighbours and everyone east of me had no power for over 24 hours. They are on a different part of the power grid. Many people will not have power until after Christmas. Trees are still coming down.

You can see how icy it is.

As fast as they fix downed power lines, trees break and bring down new power lines. The main roads are clear and most public transit is running.
I just talked to one of my seniors and she fell in the dark when the power went out. Her house was pretty cold. I am glad her near neighbours could help.
I sat and watched a movie with my Christmas bunny. I have been through blackouts. I am just glad that it was not me this time.
Looks like you have had really bad weather over there. Here we've had high winds and rain with a bit of snow on higher ground, but nothing as bad as you've had. A few places have been without power but not with us. We had very high winds a few weeks ago and that seems to have brought down any trees that were about to go, so these winds have had little to fell.
I hope your "senior" is Ok with no injuries and that everyone is managing to keep warm.
Is this usual weather for you this time of year, or is this year exceptional?
We've had such upside down weather here for the last few years that we don't really know what to expect. Up until a week or so ago the temp. here was a good 7 to 10 degrees warmer than it should have been. Now it is quite cold, but not exceptionally so, it's just the high winds that are troublesome. We do get windy times but usually in late spring and autumn.
The weather is all out of whack!!
I heard you had bad weather. I am glad it is not too bad. None of us is ready for the weather we have had. My senior wasn't hurt, but she was stressed and that is not good either.

We do get ice storms, but not usually this bad. The storm was on Sunday and it is Thursday and tens of thousands are still without power. The power people have done exceptional work restoring power, but the numbers that lost power were extreme(350,000).

It is not just branches down, some trees are split right to the ground. They will never recover. I have minor damage, but my trees are young and smaller and I keep them trimmed. My butterfly bushes are damaged, but they will come back after I clear out the broken branches. I am relieved that I did not lose power. It is so hard to protect my animals from cold in a winter power failure.

It is cold, some people have been bringing BBQ's inside and the carbon monoxide has made them sick. The city has set up warming shelters, but people want to be at home. Who wants to spend Christmas in a shelter.
I have stayed close to home in case the power goes out. Trees are still coming down because the ice is still thick and the wind stresses the branches and they break. We need a few warm days to melt this ice.
