You are going to cry when you see the video, but you are going to love it.

These are Chimps that have lived in research facilities for years(sometimes many years) . The Humane Society of the United States has worked to bring them to Chimp Haven a retirement facility for old research animals. They have not rescued every chimp in the country, but they are working on it.

It is just so beautiful to see them, free at last.
Thank goodness there are people like this. The video is very moving. Let's hope that one day very soon, they will all go free.
There are people working continuously to free research animals and provide them with a safe haven.

It isn't the answer to just open the cages and release them. They have no where to go. We have to provide the place.
Humans have damaged the natural lives of research animals. So the debt humans owe them is to provide a decent life for them now. You are right, Just opening the cages and saying "Bye bye you are free now" is not the right thing to do. There has to be a structure of something provided to help them.
There are other facilities to rescue primates. I think there is even a special place for Aids infected primates. They were used in Aids research and now they cannot even live with other primates who are not infected.

We humans bear a heavy burden of responsibility. I always feel better when I learn that someone is caring that burden for all of us.

Animals in research is another hold over to a less enlightened age. I do not even know if any good information was gained by using these animals. Much of it was a waste of animal lives.
