Animal architecture: urban planning for animals - Catherine - 05-11-2016 Architect Joyce Hwang is seriously looking at our urban planning and architecture and figuring out ways to incorporate animals needs into the plans. I think I understand her plan. I certainly like the idea. http://news.google.ca/news/url?sr=1&ct2=ca%2F7_0_s_18_1_a&sa=t&usg=AFQjCNGdrFhWMVIjgRakNsZgILKSJ1JyGQ&cid=null&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.curbed.com%2F2016%2F5%2F10%2F11640046%2Fmaking-architecture-better-for-animals&ei=OcQyV4gnxOHyAY-fsNgF&sig2=3DY-u9RmrWr5c6mqiHVpfw&rt=HOMEPAGE&vm=STANDARD&bvm=section&did=-857215775757344241&sid=-7490828287450190495&ssid=cstm&st=2&at=dt0 Every time we plant a tree we are trying to make things better. RE: Animal architecture: urban planning for animals - Tobi - 05-14-2016 What an excellent idea. Many people can also create wildlife habitats in their own gardens (for hedgehogs, newts and many other species) and at the very least, bird nesting-boxes can be fixed up on outside walls. It all helps. But Ms Hwang's ideas are interesting and I hope they work out well. RE: Animal architecture: urban planning for animals - Catherine - 05-14-2016 Our cities would be much nicer places if we planned them for every creature that will live in them. We could work with nature instead of fighting it. A lot of us have worked at making our gardens more nature friendly. Now if only we can build things that work for all. |
