Canuck the Crow - Catherine - 03-27-2017

Canuck is a famous crow in Vancouver, Canada.
He gained notoriety when he stole a knife from a crime scene.

He has a Facebook page. The link is in the article I am about to post.
This time he is in the news because he got hurt at a soccer game(football to the rest of you).
His friends have been looking for him. He is now at the vets and should make a full recovery.

They have even raised funds to pay his vets bills. It seems friendly crows are popular and perhaps more common than we think.

Oh wow! Crows can be famous! I think they like to interact with people and what people do. Crows are probably the "new dogs" Smiley4

I hope Canuk will make a full recovery.

RE: Canuck the Crow - Catherine - 03-28-2017

I think Canuck must be recovering. I couldn't find any new articles. If something had happened we would hear about it.

Crows really seem to enjoy human interactions. Canuck is very well known.  I bet if we searched we would find there are crows in other places that are locally famous and some that are friends with a human, but no one else knows about it.

I wonder if some humans are famous in crow circles for their relationship with crows.

RE: Canuck the Crow - Tobi - 03-29-2017

I met a very nice dog-walking lady today, and she said she had never heard of a wild Crow making friends with a human. But I know (even if not locally to me) that such things do happen. I read all the comments on an article about treats for wild Crows. There were a number of other people commenting who'd had such things happen with Crows.

RE: Canuck the Crow - Catherine - 03-29-2017

I think crow-human interactions are quite common. Even close bonds are common enough. Maybe your neighbour is not the kind of person who would be friends with a bird so she doesn't understand how others do it.

Canuck has certainly bonded with humans.

It sounds like Canuck is continuing to recover. He has been visited by his person and is  happy tp see him.

I am happy that Canuck is doing so well, but I am troubled by the fact that Canuck was deliberately struck by a person. They are trying to find that person now so that charges can be laid. Why would anyone hit a tame bird like that?
