Miami Zoo prepared for Hurricane Irma - Tobi - 09-10-2017

It certainly seems that Miami Zoo cares about their animals. They are well prepared:

They are not just preparing now for Hurricane Irma. They started building and planning right after Hurricane Andrew. I am sure the whole zoo will ride out the storm in safety.

They are right about the dangers of evacuating animals. It can really be stressful and dangerous and if the hurricane changes direction it can put you right in the path of danger. Instead they did the work on the zoo that would make it safe to ride out a storm.

The people who plan to stay at home and ride out the storm should ask themselves if they have done as much work as the zoo to make their home hurricane safe.

It could be a scary time, but the animals will feel safer in their own homes. I still love the picture of the flamingos in the bathroom during the last big hurricane to hit them. It is a classic picture. The birds were okay. Some of the birds who were there for the last hurricane could still be alive for this one. I wonder what they are thinking.
