News Hound--a news show for pets - Catherine - 04-02-2018 Newshound, a new show that has pet news presented by a pet dog. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/43587286 A news show for pets with a dog as the presenter of the news...did you fall for the idea? Did you forget it was April 1? They didn't quite fool me. RE: News Hound--a news show for pets - Tobi - 04-03-2018 Oh I always fall for April Fool jokes ![]() I think it is a great idea to have a news show for animals! A dog reading the news sounds perfect to me. At least the news would be about interesting things, like who peed where....what different foods taste like....how far a frisbee can travel in a strong wind.....where the latest Squirrels have been sighted.... Human news can be very boring. In the 80s I fell for an April Fool joke on the radio, which said a species of Dinosaur had been proven to have survived in the north of Scotland. I might have actually heard that one. I would love there to be a dinosaur out there somewhere. A couple of years ago there was a good one that said they were using guinea pigs to cut grass in a solar panel farm. They showed pictures of guinea pigs being released in the morning to eat the grass that grows between the solar panels. I totally fell for it. It looked so real. I still like the idea. RE: News Hound--a news show for pets - Tobi - 04-05-2018 I am sure I would have fallen for that one Catherine. Just because it does sound like such a great idea. I wonder...can Guinea Pigs eat too much grass? Certainly Goats and Sheep could help out there. But Goats of course might be tempted to chew wires as well ![]() RE: News Hound--a news show for pets - Catherine - 04-05-2018 The guinea pigs were short enough to walk under the solar panels, but too short to reach any wires. It seemed like a perfect solution to grass growing around the panels. I still like the idea and the video was so cute. I couldn't find the video, but the article was convincing. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=9&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj-n7SUuKLaAhUOVa0KHZgJAVwQFghRMAg&url=http%3A%2F%2Fdigital.nepr.net%2Fnews%2F2016%2F04%2F01%2Fthe-solution-to-solar-farm-vegetation-guinea-pig-lawnmowers%2F&usg=AOvVaw2_xf-JS5gBXt4vlW0qMc2k Guinea pigs wouldn't over eat the grass, but they do need other food sources. They need hay and they need vegetables like carrots and cucumbers. I give peppers and tomatoes as well, but my piggies are spoiled. The real problem would be predators. Guinea pigs are not really good at protecting themselves. There would be a problem with hawks and foxes. Still the idea could be made to work. It certainly worked on April 1. |
