12 Right Whales spotted off of New Brunswick - Catherine - 05-25-2018
In response to the sighting of 2 Right Whales, Canada closed off a number of areas to fishing. Now 12 Right Whales have been spotted in that area. Last year 18 Right Whales were found dead. Their numbers are so few that we need to react strongly. Anything less puts the species at risk.

I am proud of my country for reacting like this. We have failed to do the right thing many times, but this time, when it really matters, we are doing whatever it takes to help the Right Whales. I know it is just one species and so many others are at risk too, but the loss of any species is unacceptable. That is why it is so important that we save the Right Whales at any cost.
I actually cried when I heard that 12 Right Whales were spotted. There is hope.
