Tree kangaroo thought to be extinct has been seen. - Catherine - 10-13-2018

The rare Wondiwoi Tree Kangaroo was though to be extinct for the last 90 years. It was just recently spotted in the mountains of Indonesia.  This is a hopeful thing. The animal was thought to be gone forever, and somehow, it is still alive.

I am happy that  this particular animal is still alive. I am also hopeful that there may be other animals who are still alive because they are in isolated areas. Extinction is so final and absolute. As long as even a small population survives there is hope of an animal surviving.

Great news we have a tree kangaroo in Australia don't know if it's the same species though.

You have beautiful tree kangaroos in Australia, but this one is very different. Now that there are not extinct, maybe we will get to see pictures some day.
