Tree kangaroo thought to be extinct has been seen. - Catherine - 10-13-2018 The rare Wondiwoi Tree Kangaroo was though to be extinct for the last 90 years. It was just recently spotted in the mountains of Indonesia. This is a hopeful thing. I am also hopeful that there may be other animals who are still alive because they are in isolated areas. Extinction is so final and absolute. As long as even a small population survives there is hope of an animal surviving.
