Two turkeys were guests at the Thanksgiving Feast - Catherine - 10-15-2019 Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary served a vegan Thanksgiving dinner. Instead of serving the turkeys for dinner, the dinner was served to the turkeys! Everyone had fun and no lives were lost in the making of the meal. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/happy-herd-animal-sanctuary-turkeys-at-the-table-thanksgiving-1.5320280 Just because it is a holiday with traditions doesn't mean we should forget our animals friends. Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary has been taking in abandoned, abused and at risk animals for seven years. They have cows, pigs, goats, sheep, a donkey and of course two turkeys. These animals are given a safe place to live out their lives and be cared for. This year it meant that two turkeys had a place at the Thanksgiving table and not on it. I hope their example can inspire more people to rethink how they celebrate the holiday. RE: Two turkeys were guests at the Thanksgiving Feast - LPC - 10-16-2019 A wonderful and inspiring story! RE: Two turkeys were guests at the Thanksgiving Feast - Catherine - 10-16-2019 I love the pictures of the turkeys wandering between the tables, quite at home. |
