The article is a series of stories of how people's pets have been there for them and helped them through tough times.
Each story has a message of how a pet gave unconditional love and changed their lives forever and for better.

If I see a common theme in this, it is the fact that the pet's presence seems to be enough to make a difference. Knowing that the pet knows your pain seemed to be enough to get people through periods of pain.
The reverse is true too. Sometimes it was the presence of the person that pulled the pet through.
Either way it is the bond that matters. Having a bond with a pet is almost like having disaster insurance. If things get bad the pet will be there and help you make it to the good times.
