Sea turtles in India lay millions of eggs - Catherine - 04-11-2020

The global shutdown of human activity is having a positive effect on many animal species. Turtles seem to have had the best positive results so far. All around the world they are able to lay their eggs in peace. The eggs are able to hatch in peace. India has had an amazing turtle egg laying season. Millions of eggs have been laid.

For many endangered turtle species this may be the year that saves them from extinction. Many of the hatchlings still won't survive and many who do won't live to maturity. However if they are starting with a larger number of eggs the number who do make it will be higher. It may be a bad year for humans, but it is a good year for turtles.
