UK holds first Pet Paralympics - Catherine - 09-05-2021

The games were designed to be contests that allowed animals of all abilities to enter. There were scent based fetch games for the visually impaired dogs.  There were jumpless "jumps" for physically disabled dogs. All dogs were able to compete no matter what their ability.

This is a beautiful idea. The dogs would have a lot of fun with this and so would the owners. So often if you have a handicapped pet, dog events wouldn't be open to you. Your pet would look odd among the healthy totally abled dogs. At this event a blind dog or a three legged dog is just one of the regular contestants.
I hope they can do this again. People and their handicapped pets deserve to have some fun too.
