The Winner of Fat Bear Week in Alaska - Catherine - 10-10-2021
Katmai National Park and Reserve in Alaska organizes Fat Bear Week every year. People vote on which Grizzly Bear has gained the most pre-hibernation weight.
The winner and 4 time champion is an elderly bear named Otis. He has lost some teeth and he can't keep up with the younger bears who jump in after salmon. However his calm experienced methodical fish catching approach clearly paid off.

It is interesting that they keep track of how much weight the bears have gained. It is delightful that they vote on who is the fattest bear.
It says something that an elderly bear won. Clearly experience pays off even when it comes to getting fat on salmon.
