The Right Whales had declined in numbers. This year there were few calves.
Whales are being spotted, tangled in fishing gear. The most famous is Snoe Cone, who is likely dead by now.
So where is the hope? They have used technology to create ropeless fishing gear.

It may take a while to implement ropeless fishing gear. The technology might still need work, but it is definitely a step in the right direction.
It is not just the Right Whales who will benefit. The oceans will be a safer place for all if there is less fishing gear out there waiting to tangle unsuspecting creatures.
