Orca sightings in BC waters - Catherine - 04-07-2023

Orcas have been sighted near the Canadian Gulf Islands. In particular, a 45 year old male known as Chain Saw, has been seen. He was in the company of Whidbey and Nan. Raksha has also been spotted, in the company of a new calf. This would be Raksha's seventh calf.

This is really a cause for hope. The orcas are endangered and the population is struggling. To see so many of them is really a good sign. Seeing a healthy calf is a real cause for celebration. Let's hope this trend continues.
