Empty Shelter day - Catherine - 08-19-2014

A number of animal shelters in the Dallas area banded together to have an adoption event called Empty Shelter day. It was a tremendous success. New homes were found for 2,217 pets.

Sometimes people who were thinking of getting a pet just need a little incentive. Some people hadn't thought of it until now. Whatever the reason many animals are now living in homes instead of shelter cages.

Special adoption events are proving to be a great success everywhere they are held. I don't know where the idea started, but it is a good one.

This is good news. I hope all the animals will be very happy in their 'forever homes', have lots of good food, lots of love, and be part of a family -again, or for the first time.

We held a big adopt-a-thon in Toronto earlier this year. All the rescue groups took part and Pet Smart sponsored it. It was a great success.

I can't find the numbers, but many found forever homes.
