Rare male tortoiseshell cat found at animal shelter. - Catherine - 06-13-2024 The little kitten dropped off at the animal shelter was a tortoiseshell so she was given a female name. The truth wasn't discovered until it came time to spay her, or rather neuter him. Yes Cindi is a male. So likely Cindi does have two X chromosomes, which would account for the colouring. Cindi also has a Y chromosome that accounts for him being male. Cindi is now called Cinder and has found a loving home. https://ca.style.yahoo.com/unicorn-cat-discovered-oregon-shelter-154443014.html This is very rare. Having an extra chromosome is unusual. It is a cute little kitten and they would never have noticed if they had not tried to spay him. This is the first male tortoiseshell cat I have ever heard of. |
