Dorchester Paws was in the path of Hurricane Debby and they were getting increasingly serious weather alerts and flood warnings.
They had over 300 animals in the shelter and it was not going to be good. Their 52 year old building was not going to be safe from flooding. The decision was made to evacuate.
They put out a call to their community on Facebook and the response was overwhelming. The line up to foster pets was half a mile long. Every pet was safely fostered before the storm hit

When you call on the community of animal lovers they are there.
The building did have some flood damage, but it has been cleaned up and repaired.
Animals are coming back. Some people who fostered animals have decided to keep the animals they fostered.
It could have been a disaster, but instead it was a beautiful display of community spirit that lead to some animals finding forever homes.

Thank god there are still some good people around you so often only hear about the not so good ones.

Sometimes people really are good. We just don't hear about it often enough.
