A rare Polar Bear showed up in Iceland and they shot him - Catherine - 09-21-2024

Polar Bears are not native to Iceland. They very rarely end up there. One lone bear made it to Iceland. He was a bit lost and was looking for food.
The police were called and they came and shot him. The idea of relocating him was dismissed. It was in the area of summer homes and there was only one person there at the time.

There was only one person in danger, but she was safe in her house. She could have been moved while the situation was resolved.
They thought it was too expensive to relocate the bear. They could have done a fundraiser and people would have donated enough to pay for his relocation.
Instead, they took the easy way out and now a healthy young bear is dead.

Of course Iceland is still killing whales so this doesn't surprise me.
