Budgie lost in the Arctic returns safe after a week - Catherine - 01-08-2025
On Christmas day, Blue, the budgie flew out the door in Iqaluit. His family searched for him fearing the worst in the sub zero temperatures. Some nights it was -30C. They even played YouTube videos of his favorite budgie influencer hoping he would hear and respond.
On New Years Day a woman walking her dog heard chirps. She knew there was a missing budgie. She found him and caught him and took him straight to his home.
When she rang the doorbell someone joked that it might be Blue. It was Blue! He made it home safe for the New Year.
He was cold and hungry, but he is home safe.

This is an incredible happy ending. How did Blue survive the intense cold for 7 days. A human outside one night would have frozen to death.
He had enough sense to call for help when he saw someone. It is just so beautiful that he made it home to start the New Year off with his family.
