There is avian flu all across Canada in little areas. Culling the infected animals is the standard response. This situation is different.
The Ostriches are part of a research project. They are isolated and unlikely to infect any other birds.
Also, over 75% of the ostriches recovered from the bird flu.

If that high a percentage survived, then these birds need to be studied. Why didn't they die. Can they give immunity to other animals?
This is a tremendous research opportunity. We should not miss it.
Also the birds are well now. Why would you kill them now. Let them live!
