Beloved dog suffocates in snack bag - Catherine - 06-27-2025 This is a heart breaking story and sadly not a new one. Twelve year old, Lexie, got her head stuck in a chip bag and suffocated. When her owner came home, Lexie was not at the door to greet her. She was found with her head stuck in a chip bag, already dead. https://www.ctvnews.ca/atlantic/nova-scotia/article/freak-accident-ns-dog-owner-shares-warning-after-dog-suffocates-in-chip-bag/ The way these bags are made, they seem to seal around a pets face and cut off all air intake. After that it takes very little time for the pets to die. There is a group called Prevent Pet Suffocation that is trying to make people aware of the dangers. https://preventpetsuffocation.com/ Hopefully the word can get out about the dangers of snack bags. If people knew the dangers they could take precautions. I cut a bag fully open before I throw it out. I don't have a dog, but I would hate to hear that someone else's pet died because I was careless. To know about the danger, at least gives people a chance to prevent tragedy. |
