The effect of wolves on Yellowstone Park - Catherine - 09-26-2014 I knew they had introduced wolves to the Yellowstone park area. I did not realise how much of a difference they would make for the ecosystem. This is a really interesting example of how nature can regenerate and revitalize when the natural balance is restored. http://sfglobe.com/?id=14064&src=share_fb_new_14064 Let us hope that they cherish and protect these wolves. They have clearly brought life to the park. RE: The effect of wolves on Yellowstone Park - Tobi - 09-27-2014 That was an amazing short video. Now we know the importance of wild wolves. RE: The effect of wolves on Yellowstone Park - Catherine - 09-27-2014 I was happy the wolves were reintroduced to the area(from Canada, I think), but I had no idea the impact they would have on the area. It is like a rebirth on nature all because one key species returned. Now I want to visit Yellowstone. RE: The effect of wolves on Yellowstone Park - Tobi - 09-30-2014 I would so love to meet wild wolves (Not in an intrusive way but at a distance that they were comfortable with of course) And to hear them howl! I have a friend (a friend's daughter actually) and she told me about her meeting with a wild wolf once. She was in a forest in Germany and was sitting sketching, when she glimpsed movement behind her. A short distance away there was a wolf, looking at her. She didn't say anything to it or make any noise, but watched it for a moment. It cocked its head -just like a dog might, and looked back at her, then ran away. She got the sense it was just curious. RE: The effect of wolves on Yellowstone Park - Catherine - 09-30-2014 I think wolves are mostly just curious about us, in a cautious way. I think there are places I can go to in Ontario to see wolves. They have set up a site. http://www.haliburtonforest.com/activities/wolves This is definitely doable, as a day trip. Now I just need a friend with a car who wants to go. |
