Saskatoon non profit groups provides service dogs for free - Catherine - 07-09-2025

Service dogs are very expensive. The people who need them are not able to buy them.
Sunshine Service Dogs is able to help. The group was founded by a dog trainer with a background in clinical psychology.
Conrad Keller runs a dog day care and trains dogs. In particular he trains service dogs for people with mental health issues.
The person who will be getting the dog, is part of the dogs training program.
They grow into a relationship with each other as the dog is being trained to be a service dog. Dogs are hand picked for the person who applies for a dog.

This is different from the standard procedures for training service dogs, but it works and it helps provide a dog for people that would not be able to afford
a dog.

They definitely meet a need. Service dogs can transform lives. They allow people to live and work independently. Without a dog they can't do that.
Let's hope that Sunshine Service Dogs continues to thrive and do their good work.
