Pig display absent from CNE - Catherine - 08-21-2025
The CNE is the Canadian National Exhibition. Every year, Ontario Pork brings the Pig Mobile. It displays a pig nursing her babies in a typical gestation cage.
The cage is so small the pig can barely move. Mostly she just lies there while the piglets nurse.

There are not there because the public reaction to the caged pigs is turning negative. People are less comfortable with factory farming practices.
We just don't see the need to be that cruel to a mother pig. I suppose they make more money by keeping pigs in tiny cages, but is it worth it.
Do we really want to continue such treatment of pigs or any other animal.
Hens in small cages laying eggs is no longer acceptable. Pigs is small cages nursing piglets is becoming unacceptable.
As we learn about the details of factory farming we find it less and less acceptable. That is why they didn't bring the display, but we already know the truth.
It is only a matter of time before pig gestation cages are banned. The sooner the better.
