Former shelter director opens low cost vet clinic - Catherine - 09-11-2025

The former head of the Windsor Essex Humane Society has paired with former director of shelter medicine to open a not for profit vet clinic.
They offer spay/neuter services, end of life care, nail trimming and microchipping. They do a high volume of a limited number of services, so they are able to keep their costs down. These are the essentials that people need to be able to keep their pets.
They are not yet a registered charity, but they are moving in that direction.

This has become such an important service. With a little help many people can keep their pets and not have to surrender them to a shelter.
Some humane societies are opening clinics like this. It is a change in thinking. It used to be thought that if you couldn't afford a vet you shouldn't have a pet.
Now every effort is being made to keep people and pets together. Low cost clinics make a big difference and so do pet food banks.
I wish them every success with their clinic. The community needs them.
