Baby tortoises hatched in the Seychelles - Catherine - 10-13-2025
Giant Aldabra Tortoises are rare and the Seychelles are one of the last populations. Eighteen eggs were taken and incubated and 13 have hatched.
They are now growing and thriving. These babies can be released later and help increase the population. Artificial incubation can increase the hatching rate.
This is a big help to the survival of a species that is on the edge.

We have put these species on the edge of extinction. Now it is up to us to help them. If we can intervene and help eggs hatch, then we must do this.
If they can do this every year, the population of tortoises will increase . Eventually they will be stable and able to survive on their own.
Conservation efforts give endangered species a chance.
