Southern resident Orcas in decline. - Catherine - 10-14-2025

There are a number of Orca populations on the west coast of Canada/USA. The Northern Orcas are doing better that the southern population.
The Southern Orcas have more exposure to humans and the pollution and noise we create. The Chinook Salmon are in decline so the Orcas have a food supply problem.
The Southern Resident Orcas have a declining birth rate and declining survival rate.
J pod is doing a little better than K pod, but both need our help.

We are the ones who polluted the waters. We need to clean them up. We need to clear up discarded fishing gear too.
We have messed things up for the Chinook Salmon by our activities. We need to restore spawning grounds so there are enough salmon.
Our ships  cause the whales a lot of trouble. How about some new rules about when and where ships can go. We are not the only ones who use the oceans.
We broke it we need to fix it.
