carpenter builds stairs to rescue deer from a ravine - Catherine - 11-08-2025 A herd of deer was grazing above a ravine when one fell in. There was no way for the deer to get out. Animal Control officers tried to help. Last Resort Wildlife Refuge was called in. There was no way to lead the deer out. A storm was coming so the deer was in danger. A volunteer at the refuge is a carpenter. She built special stairs for the deer to climb out. It took three hours to make deer safe stairs. The deer hung around watching them. It took 15 minutes for the deer climb the stairs to safety. Lifting the deer out could have had a lot of complications. Building stairs to let the deer climb to safety on its own was the fastest and safest way. When you rescue animals, sometimes you have to be creative. |
