Dog hiding in tree trunk finds forever home - Catherine - 12-21-2025
Medina, a member of One Tail at a Time animal rescue was driving along when she noticed a face peaking out of a hollow tree. It was a very scared black dog.
She returned many times over the next months to leave food and water and to try and coax the dog out. Finally with the help of Chicago Animal Care and Control they were able to get the dog, Maya, into a carrier. She had to be held for three days as a stray and them Medina took her home as a foster. Maya was shy and uncertain at first, but she soon settled in. Then Medina's mother fell in love with Maya and adopted her. Now every one is happy and Maya is part of Medina's family.

That is a beautiful story. From a lost, frightened dog, hiding in a tree, Maya has become a beloved family member in her rescuers family.
All it took was months of patient coaxing. It was worth the time, to get such a happy ending.
