Rare ghost Magpies spotted in BC - Catherine - 01-01-2026

Magpies are a common bird in the west. They look very sharp with their dark feathers. Seeing ghost Magpies would be a surprise. They are not albino. They have dark eyes. Something prevents the melanin from being produced.

Right now being a white bird in Canada would be a perfect camouflage. They look like they are doing well.
I would love to see one. Sometimes if you just watch nature you get to see some amazing things.

I don't know why the don't move east, but I miss them.
I can remember a New Years day in Edmonton when no one was around and there was one lone Magpie in the tree outside my window.
I went to my frig and found him a snack. Then we both didn't feel so alone. It was a special moment.
