Ganuk the Polar Bear turns 16 - Catherine - 01-02-2026
Ganuk the Polar Bear lives at the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat in Cochrane Ontario.
He turned 16 this year and the staff wanted to make it special for him. In the wild he would be getting close to the end of his life.
With the care he is getting he could have many more years.

The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat is a special place. It provides a place for Polar bears that need care and cannot be released to the wild.

Inukshuk, the orphaned Polar Bear cub, who was raised by the Toronto Zoo, spent his last years at Cochrane.
It has been a year since his passing. We know he had a good life there.
If you ever really want to see Polar Bears, Cochrane would be a good place to visit.
