Adopting a former laboratory dog - Catherine - 02-11-2026

An animal rights advocate, who fights to save animals from suffering, adopted a former laboratory dog.
Mack was a 6 year old dog who had lived his life as a test subject in a lab. She expected to have problems with fear and aggression from such a dog.
Instead, all Mack wanted was to be loved. Everything was a first for him. He had never been for a walk or played with a toy. He had never been held.
Now he has it all and he is living his best life.

It is not just what we do to dogs or other animals in laboratories.
It is also what we take from them. We do cruel things, but we also deprive them from any of the good things in life.
We steal years of their lives.
Some lab dogs are not lucky enough to get adopted.
We steal their whole lives. No one has the right to do that to another.

Catherine, you are so right! You show true insight.

I saw this article elsewhere, but came across your comments on it here.

Until I read the article I didn't think of what we were taking from lab animals. I only focused on what we were doing to them.
Both matter. Our use of animals in labs is a double abuse. How many animals have died and have never known a moment of love or happiness.
