Chornobyl, 40 years later - Catherine - 04-25-2026

It is hard to believe that it has been 40 years since Chornobyl. There are parents raising children who were born after the nuclear accident.
It wasn't planned, but the area has turned into a giant laboratory. Scientists have continued to study the effects of radiation on nature.
Nature has thrived in the absence of humans. Actually, in spite of the radiation levels nature has done better that it would have if humans were still present.

The exclusion zone is thriving. Many species have greatly increased in numbers. The same conclusion was reached about Fukushima.
The planet can do without us very well. Maybe we need to rethink how we use the planet. Currently, over time, we are more harmful than a nuclear disaster.
We need to think about that and change our ways,
