The Ontario Endangered Species Act is under review by our current provincial government.
There is a real risk that they will change the laws to reduce protections or to open areas to development.

A lot of conservation groups are concerned and they should be. Our current government is very short sighted in their actions in other areas. I am sure they won't be better in their attitude towards endangered species. The only way we can protect animals is to keep a close watch on the government and protest when they try to remove protection from endangered species. The government won't care, but they don't want to upset too many voters.
